Geocache Description:

Darling Harbour is a large recreational and pedestrian precinct situated on the western outskirts of Sydney's city centre. The locality extends northwards from Chinatown, along both sides of Cockle Bay to King Street Wharf on the east, and to the suburb of Pyrmont on the west. Cockle Bay is just one of the waterways that makes up Darling Harbour, which opens north into the much larger Port Jackson.

Cockle Bay at night panorama

This multi will take you on a short tour around Darling Harbour and Cockle Bay, showcasing the many sights and attractions the precinct has to offer. The total distance from listed coordinates to final cache location is approximately 750 metres and should take around 20-30 minutes to complete. The journey is almost entirely along flat surfaces (Aside from either end of Pyrmont Bridge, where there is stair / escalator / lift / ramp access). Waypoints can be visited in any order.

Waypoint 1 (Listed Coordinates)

The first waypoint is located at the eastern end of the Pyrmont Bridge. To the north you will notice a number of popular tourist attractions along the foreshore. King Street Wharf is located just beyond these attractions.

From this vantage point, you will notice two plaques located at either side of the bridge. Find the day in December 1899 the foundation stone was laid and let this number be A. Also find the day in June 1902 when the bridge was opened for traffic and let this number be BC.

Waypoint 2

The second waypoint is located at the western end of the Pyrmont Bridge, adjacent to the Australian National Maritime Museum, one of only six federally-funded museums and the only one located outside of the Australian Capital Territory.

Two further plaques are located at either side of this end of the the bridge. Installed by the National Institute of Engineers Australia, these plaques recognise Pyrmont Bridge as a National Engineering Landmark. Find the year in which the bridge was dedicated and let this number be DEFG.

Waypoint 3

The third waypoint is located on the western side of Cockle Bay just outside the Harbourside entertainment and shopping district.

Notice a tall, narrow, red signpost containing two words written vertically. Count the number of letters in each word: one word has slightly more letters than the other. Let the difference in word lengths be H.

Waypoint 4

The fourth waypoint is located in the center of Palm Grove, a small amphitheatre lined with palm trees. Further south is the Darling Quarter (with an expansive children's playground) and Tumbalong Park.

Find a circular plaque on the ground with the words "Palm Grove Revitalisation" and "A Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority Initiative" engraved on it. There are two numerical years listed on the plaque: "1994" and "200x". Let the last digit of this year be I. (if the plaque is inaccessible, please refer to the uploaded spoiler image to find the required information)

Waypoint 5

The fifth waypoint is located beside a small piazza at Cockle Bay Wharf, a popular dining district.

The fountain at the centre of the piazza features a number of steel brolgas around it's perimeter. Count the number of birds and let this number be JK. UPDATE: It appears one of the steel brolgas has been removed / stolen, the value JK should be an even number, please add 1 if you count an odd number of birds.
