Geocache Description:

Grade II listed church of St Martin's. The cache is not located in church grounds.

St. Martin's has a medieval tower, of ashlar, with diagonal buttresses, battlements and crocketed pinnacles.

Four stringcourses run round the buttresses. The rest of the church was entirely rebuilt in 1837-39 by Rickman & Hussey.

The nave is battlemented. The large transepts have plain gabled parapets. There are encaustic Godwin floor tiles in the area of the pulpit.

The rest of the church is paved with flagstones. The font is 19th C Perp style. There is stained glass in the church by A. Gibbs & Co. There are many 17th and 18th C chest tombs in the churchyard including three 'lyre-console' tombs south of the church.
