As you can see the log book is held within a secure container and the only way to access the log is to remove the padlock.
Okay so how do I get in?
A lock picking kit is absolutely necessary in order to pick the lock!
The lock must first be picked to be able to get at the Log book, and you have my explicit permission to pick this one lock.
Non signing of the log book and/or Cutting/forcing of the lock will result in LOG DELETION. Please keep everything as it is. So no bolt cutters, hacksaws or other destructive entry methods.

There are a lot of resources out there that can help you. to make things easier, I've found a couple of useful resources. The first is the a useful presentation on the basics of pin tumbler locks and a really good, although long video presentation on the same subject.

Strangely they are easy to buy, moderately easy to make and if you ask someone nicely, they may lend you their picks.

A couple of things. The lock you are up against isn't too hard as I do actually want people to log this one. It has has no strange security pins such as mushrooms or serrated ones so you ought to get in.
finally there are two golden rules you need to remember:
Only pick locks you own or you have been given explicit permission to pick.
Never pick a lock you rely on.
