Geocache Description:

HICKS MILL CHAPEL.

This Bible Christian Chapel was built in 1821 and opened by William O'Bryan and James Thorne. It has since been twice enlarged. Hicks Mill was an important Bible Christian Center in mid Cornwall and the conference was held here in 1831, 1851, 1861 and 1871, locally it came to be associated with its most famous member, Billy Bray who joined the society in 1823 and later signed a total abstinence pledge in the Chapel. One of the leaders of the society was Thomas Tregaskis (1785-1871) who's mill can be seen close to the Chapel, he later moved to the Salt Water Mill at St Issey and was involved in a famous incident at Padstow. In the school room there is a framed photograph of the members of the Bible Christian Conference at Exeter in 1865, James Thorne in the center of the front row was the virtual second founder of the denomination

The cache is a short walk from the entrance of the chapel where there is plenty of parking, please respect the neighbors of the chapel.

Well done to Portloe1 and PR2105 for getting FTF on the 7th Church Micro day!
