Go up to the top floor using the escalator, or running up the steps, from central gate of JR Kyoto Station. You can take a break and enjoy a great view of Kyoto City from the rooftop called "Sky Garden & Happy Terrace".

Many LED elements are installed in each step, you can enjoy the electric illuminations of each season from Muromachi square on the third floor at night. The steps are also used for concerts and events, such as the JR Kyoto Station Building Grand Staircase Dashing-up Competition held in February of each year. The fastest record of the competition is approximately 20 seconds.
また、三階から屋上まで続く大階段には、LEDが各段に取り付けられており、夜にはシーズンごとのイルミネーションを楽しむことができます。この大階段では、「ＪＲ京都駅ビル大階段駈け上がり大会」が毎年２月に開催されています。約20秒が最速記録だそうです。
