The entire building of the parish church of St Nicholas, Cublington dates almost exclusively from the 15th century. Although the reason for it is unknown at that time the entire village of Cublington was abandoned in its ancient location and moved to its current location where it sits today. The ancient village ruin can still be found along the Ridings Way to the east of the modern village, and the ancient churchyard remains enclosed.
The ancient parish chest, the oldest in Buckinghamshire, was transferred from the old building to the new, as were many of the building materials that made up the old church construction. A brass table in the chancel of the present church records the death of one John Dervyle who died in 1410 as ’the first rector of this church’, his predecessors being rectors of the old church down the hill.
