A praia do Laranjal é uma praia situada a dez minutos do centro da cidade de Pelotas, no estado do Rio Grande do Sul.
Com seus balneários Santo Antônio,Valverde e Balneário dos Prazeres é banhada pela Lagoa dos Patos.
O povoamento da cidade se originou em 1763, quando muitos habitantes da vila de Rio Grande, fugindo da invasão espanhola ocorrida na época, buscaram refúgio nas terras pertencentes a Thomaz Luiz Osório, que se localizava às margens da Laguna dos Patos – hoje balneário do Laranjal.
O Laranjal teria esse nome porque, durante certa época, a família que era proprietária de toda a sua área, e que mais tarde a transformou em diversos loteamentos, teria tentado implantar um laranjal ali. Com isso, ficou o hábito de dizer "lá no Laranjal dos Assunção". No entanto, não há nada que prove essa hipótese. O engenheiro agrônomo Adolfo Bender ajudou o advogado nesta fase inicial. Ao receber em 1998 a insígnia do Trevo de Ouro da Escola de Agronomia da UFPel, ele lembrou em seu discurso: "O planejamento desse balneário foi executado com extremo cuidado, com a preservação do ambiente, inclusive transplantando coqueiros e árvores de outros logradouros públicos que, de outro modo, teriam sido abatidos. Ainda por sugestão do doutor Antônio, replantamos figueiras e os coqueiros que enfeitam e melhoram o clima da avenida beira Lagoa."
A extensão da orla é de aproximadamente 2 km, o que possibilita a prática de diversos esportes, aquáticos quanto praticados na areia e calçadão.
