DE: Ein kleiner Traditional an einem schönen und auch nicht so überlaufenen Platz am Ostufer des Königssees. EN: A little Traditional located at a beautiful and not too overcrowed spot at the east shore of the Königssee (King's Lake).
DE: Dieser Cache bringt Euch an einen schönen kleinen Aussichtspunkt am Königssee. Parken könnt Ihr am Königssee-Parkplatz (kostenpflichtig). Der kürzeste Weg führt vom Parkplatz aus über den Malerwinkel-Rundweg im Gegenuhrzeigersinn. Am Aussichtspunkt dann rechts abbiegen und dem Uferweg folgen. Etwa 50 Meter vor dem Cache warnt ein Schild vor Lebensgefahr wegen eines nicht versicherten Steiges. Die letzten Meter bis zum Cache sind aber noch relativ einfach zu begehen. Etwa 50 Meter weiter nach dem Cache geht dann der Weg über in gefährlicheres Terrain. Kurz nach dem Cache befindet sich auch noch eine beliebte Badestelle. Der Cache ist auch gut zu kombinieren mit dem Malerwinkel-Rundweg, der Brandnerkapelle und der Rabenwand. Für die beiden letzten Caches wäre es sinnvoll, die Malerwinkel-Runde in umgekehrter Reihenfolge zu gehen. Das Original-Listing von 2002 ist unten angehängt. Viel Spaß. EN: This cache is guiding you to a nice lookout point at the east shore of the Königssee. Parking is available at the Königssee parking lot (with costs). The shortest way is leading from the parking lot to the Malerwinkel way. At the lookout point head right and follow the way along the shore. Near the cache is a little bathing place. This cache can be be done together with the Malerwinkel-Rundweg, the Brandnerkapelle and the Rabenwand. If your planning to do the last two mentioned caches, it would make sense to do the Malerwinkel-Rundweg in reverse order. The original listing from 2002 is attached below. Have fun. ************************************************************ Original Post: Our first cache--Woo-hoo! This cache is well worth the effort even if you aren't successful in finding it. Berchtesgaden is one of the most beautiful cities in Germany year round. With the spectacular mountain scenery and many historical sites to visit, such as the Eagle's Nest, there is lots to see and do in Berchtesgaden. The trail starts off relatively easy from the parkplatz by the Konigssee. You can cross the Konigssee by boat, but will not be able to find the cache this way. There is a trail that runs part way along the eastern side of the lake, and this is where your journey begins. You will loose reception along the trail, but will be able to pick up a signal once you get close to the cache. You must keep going until you can't go anymore without going into the water. This can be rather slippery in wet weather. The container is a blue rubbermaid box wrapped in a large brown plastic bag. Good luck and don't forget lots of film. Even if you don't find the cache, the view is worth it any time of the year.
