Geocache Description:

See a bit of significant U.S. History from this cache, and take a 1/2 mile roundtrip hike in one of my very favorite places. The scenery is unusual, fascinating and outstanding.

The coordinates above are just for the parking spot. There are two stops you must make along the way to help find the coordinates for the final spot. I've been to this parking spot many times when the weather made me hesitate to take the hike I like so much. But every time I've taken the hike, regardless of the weather, I've been rewarded with a special experience in a place of unusual beauty and peace. The first part includes a bit of steepness that might not be as easy if there is snow. Most of the walk is on a gentle incline.

The first stop in your quest is at N42* 27.220' W107* 32.764'. How far is it from St. Joseph Missouri to Sacramento? The Answer is near where you stand, and in the format AAAA miles. Add AAAA to the last 4 digits of both N42* 25.651' and W107* 31.144 to get the coordinates for your next stop.

At your second stop, find out what calvary, in the format BBth Ohio Calvary, garrisoned in the meadow before you in 1862. Next, find out what weekly wage was offered on the "help wanted" poster for "young, skinny, wiry fellows," in the format $CC. Finally, find out how many miles Bill covered in 21 hours and 40 minutes when he had to pull an extra leg due to unfortunate circumstances. That will be DDD miles. Add CCBB to the last 4 digits of N42* 24.810' and add DDD to the last 3 digits of 107* 32.209' to get the coordinates of your final destination.

At the final location, you must find, and email me, the answer to a question that completes the following word:

_ _ U L _ _ R S.

Please don't disclose the answer in your log. I reserve the right to delete logs for visits where I have not received the correct answer. You will be standing on a roundish black spot that is approximately 9x12' in a generally flat area. If it has rained recently, the black spot might be under about an inch of water. Others close by, may be so covered for longer periods after rains and are enjoyable to note.

The question you must answer is this: Sitting on roughly the same level as your feet, are a number of very large things that make me feel like a mere ant in comparison - what are they?

From the final spot, its just a few more yards (about 50) to a point from which you can enjoy a splendid vista. To the north are the Granite Mountains, above the Sweetwater River. To the distant east (beyond the closer horizon) are the Shirley Mountains. To the southeast and south are the Green Mountains with Ferris Mountain in the SE and Whiskey Peak (with radio antenae) to the south. If you look to the distant western horizon, you can see the snow-capped Wind River Range.
