Cache is an ammo box, not hard for a geocacher to find. Please place it back like you found it (e.g. well hidden) so it won't be discovered by muggles. If you don't have a Georgia Park Pass, it costs $5 to park (except the day of the Caching at the Gorge event, parking is free).
The area where the cache is located was known as Hemlock Hammock because of the beautiful stand of Eastern Hemlock trees. The Hemlock Hammock sign is gone now, and the trees have suffered from infestation of wooly adelgids. The wooly adelgid is a destructive, non-native pest that was apparently introduced to the eastern United States by accident from Japan. It feeds by sucking sap from hemlock and spruce trees. It has severely damaged forests from Georgia to Massachusetts. It leaves small white egg sacs, resembling cotton, on the branches of the trees.
Enjoy the cache and your visit to Tallulah Gorge State Park, and be aware of the danger to our forests posed by the wooly adelgid. Curse you, wooly adelgids!
This cache was placed with permission of the Tallulah Gorge State Park manager. Please exercise responsible caching in our state parks so they'll continue to be friendly to geocachers!
DO NOT try to access this cache directly from Highway 441.
