When I first moved to the Rim Country, Highway 260 was a winding two way road from Star Valley to Colcord Road. The road through Preacher Canyon was particularly winding, and due to the surrounding hills, was the last area where snow or ice melted and the site of a number of accidents during winter. I remember when the current road,with the two lane bridge over Preacher Canyon was built. Recently I decided to walk the old roadbed. On the hillside to the south I have hidden this letterbox.
To reach this site, park at whichever parking area is suitable to your car then hike the road until slightly northeast of the posted coordinates. You will need to hike down a steep hill from parking, and make a short but steep, bushwhacking climb from the roadbed.
This area is off limits to motorized travel. You can hike, bike, or take horses, but ATVs are not allowed on the old roadbed, in order for it to return to the preroad state. The coordinates are particularly interesting (999, 666), but happened by chance
