Bizarre, French, from Italian bizzarro. This puzzle inspired by Bizarro and The Line King.
So much of the action of the Great North Walk in this section takes place on the ridges and a little in the valleys. This cache celebrates the scenic beauty of both.
Parking either at the end of Turner Road in Berowra, or at the Great North Walk crossover on Glendale Road in Cowan (see waypoints). Could be combined with a longer bush trail walk and/or car shuffle that includes The Oracle of Cunio Point, The man in the high castle, A Tartan Treasure and Gundah Ridge Library-Fight Club, or other Berowra bush caches. This is a puzzle multi. There are two geocheckers. One for stage 1 and one for the final, there are hints with both. Stage 1 is well concealed and holds a field puzzle that when completed will reveal the coordinates of the final stage about 340m away in a straight line.
Took us about an hour and a half to hike in and out from Turner Road, but we knew where to go. Bring some water and perhaps a snack. A towel might come in handy if it's a hot day. If you intend to complete the full section of the GNW from Berowra Waters to Cowan we assume you are an experienced hiker and will take the necessary precautions to ensure your safe return. We found phone reception is pretty good in this area, especially along the ridges, not so flash in the creeks.
Stage 1 is near the track. The Final is about 100m from the track and may be accessed in two ways. The first involves a brute force bush bash and rock climb (T4) down to GZ from the track. The other involves a less direct more scenic walk along a rocky creek line (slippery when wet) and sometimes moderately dense vegetation (T3-4). This is a nice contrast to the ridge line in our opinion. Long sleeves, trousers hiking boots recommended. The way you go is up to you! Make sure you bring some water along as the stuff in the creek is not up for drinking. The checkers contain more hints.
