This amazing location where the stepped shoreline of Lake Winnemucca (part of the larger Lake Lahontan) appears to have only recently dried up when in fact water last lapped at this shore over 10,000 yrs ago.
The 1865 Battle of Mud Lake was in this valley and some of the oldest petroglyphs in North America can be found nearby.
