(eng. below) Flyktingförläggningen/Beredskapsförrådet byggdes sannolikt runt 1943. Hittills har vi hittat en fin fungerade (tidigare maskindriven) vattenpump. Husgrunden (ev. två stycken) har vi ännu inte hittat. Hjälp oss gärna med detta och meddela CO!
På Krigsarkivet har vi hittat beskrivningarna: 1944-05-04 "Omhändertagande av estniska flyktingar" samt 1944-10-12 "Rapport om bärgning av flyktingar". Båda dessa händelser kan mycket väl varit kopplade till just Björkö.
Själva cachen finns vid vattenpumpen.
(Björkö, som nu är sammanväxt med Kroksö, var en egen ö på sjökort från 1805. På 1700-talet hette ön Biörkholm)
----------------- The terrain factor of the cache is high since a boat is required in order to get here. Once on the island, the Birch island (Björkö), a simple walk in the woods leads to the cache. Björkö, which is now part of the same island as Kroksö, was a separate island on the 1805 chart. In the 1700’s, the island was called Björkholm) On the island, there are remnants of a refugee camp / emergency storehouse from the 2nd World War. It was probably built around 1943. So far we have only found a fully functional water pump, probably once powered by a diesel engine. The cache is close to the water pump . In the Military Archives, we found the followings notes: 1944-05-04, "Taken care of Estonian refugees" and 1944-10-12, "Report on the rescue of refugees." Both events may well have been connected to this island. We have not yet found the building foundations (there might have been two houses). If you see them, please let the CO know.
