Heltor Rock is virtually unknown except to locals, determined tourists and geocachers 
It is a rather large lump of granite towards the eastern edge of the Dartmoor National Park and is said by some to be the most easterly tor on Dartmoor. I guess that depends on your definition of a tor, because if you stand on the top and look east, you will see another lump of granite very nearby, but nowhere near as spectacular as this one.
Strangely enough there is no spot height available for Heltor Rock and although the BBC stated in 1986 that the height was approximately 350m another web site gives it at just 322m or 1056 feet. I have yet to find the definitive height for the rock. Whatever its height Heltor Rock affords some of the best views of eastern Dartmoor in all directions.
Unusually for me, in fact probably the only one I have, this is a cache and dash! Do take a look at the magnificent view of Heltor Rock, but please do NOT trample across the farmer's field to get there in a straight line. Follow the lane east and you will find a footpath that takes you to the top. This is the ONLY access to the top of the rock, where you will find (or probably not 
) another of my caches.
