PT) S. Martinho d' Angueira → A aldeia raiana do conselho de Miranda do Douro (Distrito de Brangança) com pouco mais de 300 habitantes, na sua maioria idosos, foi, em tempos, a segunda aldeia mais populosa do conselho (apenas ultrapassada por Sendim), graças às minas de Estanho e Volfrâmio que operaram entre 1850 e 1990, atraindo os habitantes e famílias das aldeias mais próximas a instalarem-se cá.
Esta aldeia é banhada pelo rio Angueira (que nasce em Espanha), daí a origem do seu nome. É ainda das poucas aldeias do país e do conselho onde ainda se fala a segunda língua oficial de Portugal (O Mirandês).
Por a aldeia estar muito perto da vila espanhola de Alcanices houve um grande desenvolvimento do contrabando e muitas pessoas viviam desta atividade ilegal. Atualmente, faz-se todos os anos, para recordar, a Rota dos Contrabandistas, pelo rio acima.
Em S. Martinho, sendo uma típica aldeia transmontana, cria-se um raça de bovinos típica, autótene que dá origem a um tipo de carne característico que dá origem à famosa Posta Mirandesa ("Até me cresce água na boca só de pensar nela").
Características da Cache: O recipiente é pequeno e contém logbook, stashnote, lápis e uma recordação de um artefacto tipico para o primeiro que a encontrar (deixem qualquer coisa para troca). Tenho só a dizer para terem cuidado com as vespas.
EN) The statue of the miner was built in 2009 at the entrance of the village of S. Martinho de Angueira to remember the old mines of this settlement where Tin and Wolfram (tungsten) were extracted and the miners who worked there. In 2015, the place was paved and an informative plaque was placed over the statue afterwards.
S. Martinho d' Angueira → The borderland village of Miranda do Douro (District of Brangança) with a few more than 300 villagers, mostly elderly, was once the second most populous village of Miranda do Douro (only smaller then Sendim), thanks to the Tin and Tungsten mines that operated between 1850 and 1990, attracting residents and families of the closest villages to move here.
This village is bounded by the river Angueira (that begins in Spain), hence the name. It is one of the few villages in the country and in the municipality where the second official language of Portugal (The Mirandese) is still spoken.
Due to the village being really close to the spanish village of Alcañices, there was a great development of smuggling, and many people lived of this illegal activity. Currently, the Smugglers Route is annually celebrated all the way up the river.
Another famous thing of S. Martinho and the lands of Miranda do Douro is the famous meat that is used to cook Posta à Mirandesa ("I already have my mouth watering, just by thinking about it").
About the Cache: It is a small conteiner and it has logbook, stashnote, pencil and a typical artefact souvenir for the first time it is found (leave something to trade). BE CAREFUL, there may be WASPS.
