Hidden just up the road from the dam, take a moment to pull over and soak in the both beautiful and important view of the Myponga resevoiur before finding this cache.
The southern Mount Lofty Ranges catchments provide around 5% of Adelaide’s water supply, reducing our reliance on the River Murray.
The native forests and grasslands of the Myponga Creek catchment help naturally filter the rainwater, meaning less treatment is needed for southern Adelaide’s drinking water before it comes out of our taps into our homes, schools, businesses and public places.
If you’re thirsting for more info, check out the nearby monument to learn who was part of this construction in the late 1950s and early 1960s, a project that involved 60,000 tonnes of concrete!
