L'origine du faubourg de Nancray
La tradition fait remonter au VIe siècle l’établissement, à Nancray, d’un jeune prêtre, Saint Posen, qui rassemble autour de lui les habitants disséminés jusque-là dans les campagnes.
Au commencement du IXe siècle, le Roi fait don aux moines de l’abbaye de Fleury (Saint-Benoît) des terres de Nancray ; les moines fondent une celle (petit monastère). A cette époque, le moine André de Fleury évoque “une plaine agréable, entourée de vallons (...), vibrante d’un appréciable jaillissement de sources, verdoyante de près amènes, d’un air salubre, boisée, (qui) surabonde de vignes”.
Autour de la cache
Près du pont, remarquer le linteau de la maison au N°2 (hotte de raisin, 1909).
La rue Saint-Vincent est entièrement bordée de maisons de vignerons.
Belles maisons à colombages aux n°30 et n°32.
L’habitation du n°38 est la plus ancienne et porte la date de 1604 gravée dans la pierre de l’escalier.
Au n°21, se dresse une maison du XVIe siècle dont l’architecture est typique de la région : la partie habitable n’est pas au rez-de-chaussée, on y accède par un escalier extérieur sous lequel est située la cave.
Pourquoi "VERT" ?
Ma première cache posée (GC3VHY2) était une boîte verte, avec un stylo vert, un log book vert et des objets d'échange verts. Ainsi est née l'idée de placer les caches qui ont suivi sous le signe du "VERT" et de proposer un challenge consistant à y déposer de préférence des objets "VERTs". Ce challenge ne peut malheureusement pas concerner les caches de taille nano ou micro.
La cache est de taille nano. Prévoir un crayon. Merci de bien la replacer telle que vous l’aurez trouvée et de rester discret face aux immeubles du voisinage et à la circulation.

The origins of Nancray suburbs
The tradition dates back to the 6th century the establishment at Nancray of a young priest, Saint Posen, who gathered together the inhabitants until
then scattered through the countryside. At the start of the 9th century, the King makes donation of the land of Nancray to the monks of Fleury Abbey (Saint Benoît); a small monastery is founded. At this period, the monk André de Fleury describes “a gentle plain bordered with small valleys […], sounding with numerous charming springs, verdant with affable meadows, with a healthy air, woody, which has an overabundance of vineyards”.
Around the cache
Near the bridge, notice the lintel of the house (n°2 on the right) : basket of grape, 1909.
The street St Vincent is entirely lined with wine growers’ houses.
Beautiful timber houses at n°30 and n°32.
The date 1604 is engraved in the stone of the steps of house n°38, the oldest.
At n°21 is a 16th century house with typical regional vineyards architecture: the living quarters aren’t on the ground floor, an outdoor flight of stairs leads to them, with the cellar underneath.
Why "VERT" ?
My first geocache ( GC3VHY2) was a green box, with a green pen, a green log book and green items for exchange. So was born the idea to place the caches which followed under the sign of the "VERT" ("GREEN" in French) and to propose a challenge consisting in depositing there rather "VERT" objects. This challenge cannot unfortunately concern the caches in nano or micro size.
The geocache is a nano. Please bring your own pen. Thank you for replacing it as you will found it and remain discreet in front of buildings of the neighborhood and of the traffic.
