This is another of my multi-caches with the copper redirect tags attached to trees. The posted coordinates are those of the first redirect. Each redirect contains replacement least-significant digits, in north, then west order.
Two redirects may be close together, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you should go straight from one to the other. The rock is loose shale with wet moss, you could slip and hurt yourself. You can always get to the next waypoint on easy walking terrain if you detour.
The waypoints may be inaccurate due to the woods so keep looking at trees, especially the sides facing away from the trail, until you find the tag. Except for one they are all at about eye level (one is higher, and it will be obvious).
You know you've arrived when you see a very substantial tree that is hollow (though you can only see that from one side). In the hollow, hidden by a couple of pieces of shale, is the cache. Please re-hide it the same way so it cannot be seen.
Note that this cache is not winter friendly. The hollow tree has fallen in the years since the cache was planted. The cache is still in the same spot, but under heavy snow it would be hard to locate. Also late in winter, ice accumulation can make access to one or two of the redirect tags difficult to impossible. That said, the cache has been logged in winter. Just extra challenging.
The distance is small; you should be able to do the whole thing in an hour or so and kids will enjoy it.
The cache is the usual 1-gallon plastic container with screw lid (10cm opening width). The initial contents are:
- Colibri Quantum flameless lighter (needs fuel)
- Wind-up chattering jaws
- Fancy clutch yo-yo that lights up
- Strange South-American necklace
- Small painted flowerpot candle
- Kids' party noisemaker horns
- Pewter note clip
- The Cars Greatest Hits tape
- Jimi Hendrix Smash Hits tape
- Cap bomb (load with cap gun cap and drop on hard ground and it goes bang)
- Orange trail marker tape
and of course logbook and pencils. Trade away, as always leave no food items. Enjoy.
