Sunday, August 24 at 1:40PM in Cooper Landing

Join SSO JOAT after the Resurrection Pass Trail CITO Event for a 2-hour scenic raft float trip down the upper Kenai River (no fishing). JOAT picked up a great deal at the Sports & Rec show a couple months ago so that he can bring a bunch of friends on a float trip for only $25 per person. Due to raft constraints, this deal is limited to a maximum of 20 people (10 people per boat with 2 boats available). The rafts will be piloted by a professional river guides through a very gentle Class I & II section of the Kenai river from the outlet of Kenai Lake down to near the Russian River.

We will meet at the posted coordinates at exactly 1:40PM for a little "flash mob" event gathering. It is not mandatory that you buy passage on the charter rafts to participate in the event. If anyone with the proper skill and experience wants to bring their own raft or kayak that is capable of Class II water, you are welcome to do so (at your own peril). After the "flash mob" meet up, you will have to go over to the boat launch at the outlet of Kenai Lake to launch your watercraft. At the end of the float, those of us running with the guide company will be able to arrange a vehicle shuttle back up to the launch. Please post details of your plans in your Will Attend log.

For everyone who wants to buy a spot on one of the rafts, I am offering them up first come, first served. I already have 7 spots out of 20 filled. I must have an accurate head count no later than Thursday, August 7 so that I can pay for the reservation at the guide company. I will need each person who buys seats on the raft to make payment to me for those seats. In other words, if you say you're coming and I buy your seat, but you don't show up, I will be out the money for your seat. You can PayPal me the money in advance or give me Cash when you arrive at the event. Please post your Will Attend log ASAP and I will contact you directly to confirm your reservation. If we do manage to fill up all 20 available seats, I will immediately post an annoucement that the rafts are full.

We have to be checked in with the raft company no later than 1:50PM with the float starting at 2:00PM and running until about 4:00PM. The rafting company will give participants a ride back up to the starting point. Bring your own rain gear! A dry change of clothing back at your vehicle might be a good idea as well.
