Geocache Description:

I love Brass Caps. Since OFTH does not have any in Coventry Hills included in his Brass Cap Cache, I made this cache so I could find some of them.

Please read the note for waypoint 5 (W5, CHCAP5) 6th Street!

You will need to find 4 Coventry Hills brass caps, plus 3 more rural caps to the North and East. Record the numbers stamped into these Brass Caps (Year and other markings). Once you have found all 6, use the numbers to solve the simple field puzzle.

NOTE: Waypoint 4 (W4 Coville) is barely readable. You just need to get the year of of this one.

NOTE: Waypoint 5 (W5 6th St) is Difficult to read. You just need to get the numbers off of this one, not the year.

HINTS: The hints are from the survey data base.  I have tried to delete information that is no longer current, but there are no guarantees.  The hint for Waypoint 4 (W4 Coville) is very out of data.  Not one of the items in the hint are still current.  Just think opposite of all the hints for that waypoint.

N 51° AB.CDE W 114° FE.EBG

  • A = 3rd Number of WP5 (6th St)
  • B = 3rd Number of WP6 (Copperhead Road (15 St NE))
  • C = 4th Number of WP1 (Coventry Blvd)
  • D = 2nd last number of WP 3 (Covewood)
  • E = 2nd last digit of WP7 (128 Ave)
  • F = Last digit of WP2 (Coverton Mews) subtract the First digit of WP3 (Covewood)
  • G =Last digit of the year of WP4 divided by 2 (Coville)

Some of these are so easy, two of them are visible on Google Streetview. Some will be a little more challenging, but none of them are very hard. You shouldn't need a metal detector.

SEASONAL ISSUES: As always, brass caps are much harder to find in the Winter. However, if you are persistent you should be able to find these.

SAFETY ISSUES: Don't play in traffic. Look both ways before crossing the road.

I hope you have as much fun finding as I did hiding this one.
