Last summer we created a new series of caches to honour the rich history of the Lanark Highlands; this summer we're adding more caches to our series, and to celebrate we're inviting you to the Lanark and District Museum, where the ideas and inspiration for the series were born! Before or after heading out to find caches in the Lanark Highlands History series, stop by to learn a whole lot more about the region's history!
Immediately before the event, five new caches will be added to the Lanark Highlands History series. You can, of course, just come and visit us at our event, but you can also head out to find our new caches and maybe even be the first to find them! For those who wish to spend some time caching before coming to the museum, attached to the log sheet in three of our new caches you will find the name of a prominent historical resident of the Lanark Highlands; be one of the first three (individual geocachers) to sign in at the museum and tell us these names and you will win a geocaching prize! To avoid confusion with our older history caches, we will post the names of the five new caches here prior to the event.
The museum will be open from 10am to 4pm, with free admission for all geocachers! BBQ'ed hot dogs, drinks, and snacks will be available throughout the day! Although there is no set time to arrive as cachers may wish to stop by before, after, or during their tour of Lanark Highlands History caches, we suggest that everyone come around noon if they would like to meet one another :)
