Geocache Description:

“Feel the Wind in your Hair,
Smell the Salt on your Lips,
Breath the Freshness of the Air…
Time is standing still…
Inhale Freedom, enjoy the Loneliness.
Listen to the Silence of the Storm in your Ears,
And let your Eyes and your Mind follow your Spirit to Eternity…”

Dunmore Head is an extremely beautiful place on Dingle Peninsula, where you can feel the elements of this area, Water and Storm, in a very intensive way. Make your walk from the beautiful beach of Slea Head up and enjoy on the one hand the brilliant view on the islands in front of Dunmore Head and on the other hand the freshness of the atmosphere. You have a fantastic view on Great Blasket Island, you will never get closer to this without using a boat. Take your binoculars with you and let your view travel along the coast lines of Great Blasket Island and all the other little islands. Take your time and rest, enjoy the scenery and atmosphere… No problem to stay there for hours, but take care of the weather…

From the parking area it is an about 1 km walk to the Cache. You pass a small wall of stones, which is the limit for dogs being allowed on this hill. From the wall you can follow the small path around the hill or maybe go directly up also to visit a former viewpoint. When you go down the hill to the cache you have a tremendous view on Great Blasket Island and the island Liuir, which is a paradise for birds. You might be able to climb over to that island, but it is very dangerous and you should not disturb the birds on the hill… But it is great to observe them… And maybe you are lucky to see seals playing in the ocean, they are quite often there, take a close look...!!!

The cache is a container of about 1 liter just near the path down. The space is big enough to put some Travelbugs or Coins into it. Don’t go too far away from the path down, because it is dangerous. Take care for every step you make, and be careful when the wind is suddenly pushing you…

For safety reason: You don't have to scramble, you just have to follow the path, find the waypoint and turn right there!

But most of all, enjoy it!

Update June 2016:

"May the force be with you!!!"

In May 2016 Dunmore Head was blessed as it was chosen as one Location for the Star Wars Movie Episode 8!!! During the second half of the month, the entire Hill was closed for the production of this movie and the Cache was unaccessible. After the production Team left, we re-opened the cache, and it was still untouched by the movie Teams and still in perfect condition. So the Cache was closer to the Chewbaccas and Han Solos of the world than most of us will ever be! Enjoy the time there!!!
