There was an earlier building on this site but the church as you see it now was rebuilt in about 1850 by the Victorian church builder and restorer John Pritchard.
The building itself consists of a tower, a nave, north vestry, chancel and a porch on the south side – an attractive building in the English Gothic style, and has numerous interesting architectural features. The roof is interesting too with it’s interlaced fish scale tiles.
Inside the altarpiece features Christ with two angels and doubles up as the village war memorial.
Outside the ancient stone cross is a scheduled historical monument and of particular interest is the unusual Gothic pinnacle memorial to the local Bannnerman family which is close to the gate as you enter the grounds.
Down the road there is also Ganarew Cross which is worth a look too.
The Cache
The cache is a 10cm specimen-type tube and is placed outside of the church grounds on a footpath.
“If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first at churchmicro@gmail.com so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication.
There is also a Church Micro Stats & Information page found via the Bookmark list”
