As new cachers young and old begin to expand their caching wings… they sooner or later buy a kayak. Well Scr1bles can’t get enough of her new kayak and would like to share a fun adventure with caching families. Please join us for a lunch time event along the Merrimack.

Over the last few years, I have scheduled many Kayak Events..but the old dogs who attended the first one say they enjoyed it the most. A nice leisure trip down a great river with a wonderful place for a picnic lunch. Since then, many people have joined geocaching and I thought they might like to give this a try.
It is Summer Time And I Want to Mix My 2 Favorite Sports With My Friends! I invite you to join me for a kayaking/canoe trip down the Merrimack River. This river offers a variety of wild life and sandy beaches for a picnic lunch and a swim! It is the perfect river for both beginners and experienced boaters

TIME: Meet at the Boscawen Boat Launch at 9:30 AM N43.21.807 W071.38.812
NOTE: if you want help with shuttling your car please be at the Boscawen Boat Launce by 8:30 and leave your gear and we can take your car to the bottom

You have a few options:
If you have your own Kayak/Canoe and 2 vehicles, you can leave one car at the Penacook Boat Launch: The Launch is 43.17.154 071.35.463 PARKING for the Launch is 43.17.129 071.35.354 you will want leave your car here so that you don’t block the boat ramp turn around. NOTE: Don’t forget to bring the keys for this vehicle with you down river.
OR
You can go to the Contoocook River Canoe Company. (603)753-9804 and they will shuttle you and your boat up stream and pick you up at the bottom (see contact info below) You will want to make reservations to be shuttled. OR
If you need a ride back up river to get your vehicle, there will likely be people around who can help.
Please see me if you need assistance so that you don’t get left stranded.

STARTING OUR TRIP:

From I-93 North Take Exit 17 Take the US-4 W exit- (EXIT 17)- toward US-3 / PENACOOK / BOSCAWEN Turn RIGHT onto HOIT RD / US-4W. Continue to follow US-4 West. Stay STRAIGHT. DANIEL WEBSTER HWY RTE 4 West will merge with US-RTE 3 North. In Boscawen, you will come to a Y where Rte 4 West and Rte 3 North will separate. Stay right on Route 3 North. At the Bottom of the Hill just after the Merrimack County Nursing Home you will see a boat launch sign. Turn Right at the sign. There is a small building there. Follow the dirt road to the river.

From I-93 North Take Exit 17 Take the US-4 W exit- EXIT 17- toward US-3 / PENACOOK / BOSCAWEN At the blinking light turn left towards Penacook onto Harris Hill Road Turn left onto Maccoy St. (Second left) Turn left onto Merrimack St. At the End of Road you will see RIVCO company directly in front of you. Turn to the left of the building and follow the dirt road to the boat ramp.
OR Kayak and Canoe Rentals or shuttle can be arranged through The Contoocook River Canoe Company. (603) 753-9804 N43.15.007 W071.37.291

PLACES LIKE: EMS SPORTS and other stores rent kayaks and canoes but you will be responsible for transporting them to the event.
