You are welcome to stay the whole time or just pop in, and if you would like to, bring your own picnic lunch.
I checked and Dogs are welcome in the gardens - YEAH, but are not permitted in the enclosed play park.
You may want to bring your own chair, blankets, sun cream, hat, a towel and change of clothes.
Geocaching events are a great way to introduce your friends to geocaching, meet up with other geocachers and share your adventures. It's good to get to know more about Geocaching, ask questions and help and encourage others. Most of all, have fun in a relaxing atmosphere.
I have had lots of fun visits here with friends and family since I was a baby, I'm now 11 years old. I have enjoyed lots of family fun days and I even met the Mayor(ess) at one of the events.
I love playing in the park and getting wet with the fountain type water squirters that shoot up in the air when the pressure pad is stood on.
What is at the Park to do and what facilities are there?
I took Signal, Geocaching.com's mascot to the park and we took some photos showing you around. It is very beautiful with lots to keep you busy. Lots of open space to relax in the sun / shade with pretty flowers, plants and unusual Monkey Puzzle Trees!
- There are different areas with fun play equipment, with something to suit all ages and abilities, they also have a brilliant swing with a big back rest too in an enclosed play area.
- There is an area with exercise equipment for older children and adults if they want to have a go, though Signal found them a bit tricky.
- The area where water squirts up in the air, you may want to bring a towel and change of clothes
- A kiosk to buy refreshments.
- There are toilets at the back of the kiosk building.
- A Band Stand where sometimes there is music playing or other entertainment and it even has it's own Clock Tower.
- 2 tennis courts
- Special Sun Dial: see if you can find it and work out the time!
Other activities will be available in the gardens on the day.
Disabled Access
- The entrances to the Borough Gardens have wide gates, are flat from the path and easy for wheelchair access.
- There is a Disabled Toilet: the door can be opened using a special key called a Radar Key.
Parking
There is a large car park called Top O' Town car park about 2 minutes walk from the gardens. There are zebra crossings from here to the gardens with lowered kerbs for good wheelchair access. I will try add some waypoints asap to help direct you. If you would like any help or more information, please message me. Me or my parents: Cache on Wheels or Bull Family will do our best to help.
