Geocache Description:

Village Signs is a series of caches based on the ornate signs that depict the heritage, history and culture of the villages that put them up*. This cache is a simple traditional cache, parking is available at GZ.

Hawstead is a small village in Suffolk, England. It is located 5 kilometres (3 mi) south of Bury St. Edmunds between theB1066 and A134 roads, in a fork formed by the River Lark and a small tributary.

Hawstead Place, previously the seat of the Drury family, is now a farmhouse. Sir William Drury was sheriff and knight of the shire for Suffolk.

* The series was started by SmokeyPugs, and I am grateful for the original idea and their encouragement in expanding the series.

If anybody would like to expand to this series please do. I would just ask that you letSmokeyPugs know first so they can keep track of the Village Sign numbers and names to avoid duplication.
