Geocache Description:

Wenhaston was an intermediate station on the 3ft gauge Southwold Railway. The railway opened in 1879 and closed in 1929. There was a level crossing adjacent to the station, the only one on the line, it is said that the rails are still under the tarmac. The station site was a little to the south of the cache location, near the village sign which features a design based on one of the locomotives.

The cache is located near the site now owned by a group of railway enthusiasts. Their long term aim is the reinstatement of the line. The 20 acres of grazing marsh, including approximately 1 mile of the original track bed, have been the subject of a number of planning applications which have unfortunately not found total support amongst all of the villagers. Recently though, the group has gained permission to place a grounded van body and a composting toilet on site to enable volunteers to continue with clearance of the site and hopefully a permissive footpath for walkers (though apparently some of the locals object to this too despite expecting to be allowed to traverse the land themselves).

You never know, this may be the first REALLY SideTracked cache that becomes a plain SideTracked!

You are looking for a small clip-lock box in a camouflaged bag.
