Current Paddle Series #7 Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

sir dumil: I've decided to archive this cache. It had not been found after I placed it. Also, the condition of the river changed quite drastically since then. The cache was intended to be one that could be found by simply paddling up to the shoreline. This is no longer possible.

I intend to place a replacement for this cache, but it will not be a paddle-by cache and it will not be a micro. I hope to place a regular-sized cache a bit further inland, that requires beaching the watercraft and walking on the island. However, the location and style is different from the original concept of this cache, and I will not be able to place the cache until next spring/summer. Thus, I am archiving this cache in hopes of placing a different cache in a nearby spot next year.

Geocache Description:

This is a series of boat-accessible caches mostly along the shores of an island south of the Patrofska Bridge in the North Saskatchewan River.

I love combining passionate hobbies!
For me, the combination of geocaching with paddling is irresistable.
I hope you'll agree.

This is a great opportunity to sharpen your paddling and maneouvering skills or, perhaps, to teach yourself some new ones.  You'll likely see lots of wildlife as well.  The island and riverbank are teeming with many varieties of wildlife.

The caches are mostly inaccessible from shore, but readily accessible by boats, especially kayaks and canoes.  Be sure to check the river's flow rate before you head out.  The North Saskatchewan River flow rate is reported in near real-time by the Saskatchewan Water Security Agency.  At the time of placement, flow rate was around 500 cubic metres per second (cms) which was noticeable but quite manageable.

You are searching for a cammo'd bison tube hanging from a live branch of a tree or shrub over-hanging the water.

The container contains only a RitR log scroll, so please bring a writing stick.

I had a lot of fun placing these.  May you have lots of fun finding them.
