Geocache Description:

The Cache
An ammo can on the grounds of the historic boarding house.

The Location
Miss Mary Bobo’s Boarding House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was originally built in 1867 over a natural spring and was used as a traveler’s hotel. Back then it was known as the ‘Salmon House’ and was run be Dr. E.Y. Salmon. When Dr. Salmon retired back in 1908, Jack and Mary Bobo purchased the property and changed the name to the Bobo Hotel. Miss Mary operated the boarding house until her death in 1983, just shy of her 102nd birthday. Today, it continues to operate as a family style restaurant.

The Area
Lynchburg, TN isn't a place you "pass through" on your way to somewhere else. It is so off the beaten path, it's either your destination or you are lost. Granted, most people come to Lynchburg the first time to take the tour of the oldest registered distillery in the United States. If you take the time to stay a little longer, you will discover an old fashioned town, the likes of which you may have thought no longer existed. A charming town square surrounds the 100 year old courthouse. No need to hurry. Just stop and chat awhile. Life moves at a slower pace in Lynchburg.

The Jack Trail GeoTour
The Jack Trail GeoTour is a series of geocaches along the backroads and small towns of Middle Tennessee. There is no fixed itinerary, like on a traditional trail, but rather a series of points of interest in a self-guided, goal-oriented plan. We have created a special passport, which you can download here, which lets you track your progress as you hunt specially placed geocaches along the tour. This passport will help you collect “code words” to qualify for special geocoins for completion of the GeoTour.
