Congresbury train station. opened: 1869 closed: 1963.
Take a few minutes to think that locomotives rushed past in a whirl of mechanical glory and stopped here in their majestic looks and reflect on how time wearies all in its path.
This cache is a micro film pot. The surrounding area is overgrown with weeds and trees but still visible is the old station buildings and the worn platform. I placed this cache as a tribute to the days gone by and to the glory of the steam era.
I would like to dedicate this cache to TeamMojo100, my best and oldest friend and my inspiration in caching Cache may be a 5/5 in summer months as can be really overgrown. Either be prepared to break down the overgrowth or return when it is clear.
5/2/23 - A group of local history volunteers have embarked on what will be a massive task to clear all the overgrown vegetation from around the old platform. They will also be clearing other parts of the area to open up the reed area, and, hopefully, create a circular walk. This has made the cache rather easier to access. I have spoken to the leader of this group of volunteers and he is more than happy for this cache to stay at its current location and is supportive of me creating a new Adventure Lab in this area once work has been completed and new information boards have been put up. Watch this space!!
