Quilts and Cotton Gins

"One of my primary objects is to form the tools so the tools themselves shall fashion the work and give to every part its just proportion."

The Uncle Eli's Quilting Party started in 1931 as an idea of the school principal looking for a way to bring parents of students to the newly consolidated Eli Whitney School. Eighty three years later is is believed to be the longest continuously running annual quilting event in the country. Be sure to check out the plaque for the school and the historical marker for the quilting party before you leave.

There is a playground and picnic tables, so this might be a nice place to stop for a little bit and enjoy the surroundings of Snow Camp.
