Hike-in cache near Donner Summit
People have been on the Summit for a long time. This spot is a favorite because of the view. A friend has been coming here on Father's Day ever since his father brought him here, and he now has grandkids that carry on the tradition.
But even if it's not Father's Day, don't let that stop you. The view will still be there. The most direct route is from Lake Flora below, and it is STEEP. Leave the grandkids at home until you try it yourself. Shoes with good grip are a necessity. No technical climbing, but definitely will get your adrenaline going.
Can also be approached cross-country coming up from Lake Angela.
Cache is at ground level. It would be very difficult to get in the winter because of this.
