Geocache:
Rumor has it that a forest spirit named Totoro has hidden a treasure somewhere around Lake Accotink. With the help of his friends, can you find the treasure?
This is a kid friendly Wherigo geocaching adventure that takes place on the hiking trails around Lake Accotink using characters from one my family's favorite Japanese animated film called My Neighbor Totoro. The hike is about a one mile round trip and the starting point is at the parking lot adjacent to the railroad trestle. You must have a Wherigo-enabled device to find this cache; it is NOT at the posted coordinates. Click the button below to download the cartridge.
Helpful Tip: If you are playing on a smart phone, close all extraneous apps. These can compete with the memory of your device and cause the Wherigo player to crash.
PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE CARTRIDGE HERE:
The source of information for this Wherigo came from Lake Accotink Park, Studio-ghibli.wikia.com, and Wikipedia entries for My Neighbor Totoro, and Hayao Miyazaki. If you wish to learn more about Wherigos and how to build them, you can check out the Wherigo Foundation. Free Wherigo players are available for Androids, iPhones and Windows Phone. Feedback on this cartridge is always welcome!
Thanks to Nighthawk700 for introducing me to Wherigo and for seeding idea of creating a Wherigo as my very first cache. Many thanks to GeoMagician, Earwigo Google group and the Wherigo forum at Geocaching.com for the very helpful feedback in building this Wherigo.
I hope you enjoy my first Wherigo geocaching adventure!
Congratulations to Nighthawk700 for making his 2100th cache find here!
