The summer season is upon us and that means time for the annual NoVAGO Summer Picnic! Come join us for a day of fun, good food, stories, and a guaranteed good time! We invite everyone who has an interest in geocaching to come and join us. You do not have to be a member of NoVAGO to attend. No matter if you have zero finds or thousands, everyone is welcome. New to the game? New to the area? Visiting from out of town? Make plans to join us on July 26th at Sherando Park.
Sherando Park is located in Frederick County near Winchester, VA. Situated on 330 acres, it offers a variety of activities including hiking trails, mountain biking, disc golf, a fishing lake, pool, playgrounds and athletic fields…and did we mention caches?
In the surrounding area there are many great sites and caches ranging from awesome hikes, to enjoyable hydrocaches, to highly rated gadget caches, and everything in between. Frederick County also boasts the Winchester Frederick County Civil War Geotrail. Consider making a weekend of it and spend some time enjoying the fun caching Frederick County has to offer.
Event Schedule
We have the Lions Club Shelter for the day. We'll begin set-up at 10 am, with plans to fire up the grills around 11. You're invited to come earlier to cache (there will be a number of new caches placed for the event). We'll socialize, eat, have some games, and bring things to a close with a group photo at 2 pm. A more detailed schedule of the day's festivities will be posted as the event gets closer, but overall it promises to be a relaxed, informal event where the only requirement is to have a good time!
Picnic
Our picnic lunch will be a potluck event, so please post the dish you'll be bringing in your "Will Attend" log. We'll keep a master list of who is bringing what on the NoVAGO forums. NoVAGO will provide the hamburgers and hot dogs and we ask attendees to bring a dish, dessert or drink to share.

Like camping and night caching? Or perhaps hydrocaching? Well, keep this event on your watch-list. Several other associated events and activities are potentially being planned for Friday and Sunday and we'll update things here as they develop.
Important Information
- Please do not log travel bugs into the event and leave them on a table to be retrieved by other cachers. If you'd like to trade TBs, please do so from person to person. This way they can be accounted for and none get left on the event page and deemed to be MIA.
- Pets are permitted provided they are leashed and not loose.
