Geocache Description:

This event will take place on Friday morning, 35km north of Rosthern. We will hit the trail at 9 a.m. so we recommend coming a little early to help us get the group organized in a timely manner.  We will be hiking and caching along Eb's Trail, which is approximately a 4.7 km hike.   There is access to Eb's Trails directly off of Highway 11, with a small parking lot (carpooling is recommended).

Living Skies 2014 Geocaching Mega Event

Welcome to the Nisbet Provincial Forest, part of Saskatchewan's Boreal Transition Ecoregion.  As you might expect this area marks a transition from grasslands to boreal forest.  Throughout our hike we will be ascending and descending the well-covered remnants of sand dunes among a variety of trees and bushes.  The main trail is about 5 metres wide and tends to be mowed in the autumn, so we will likely be walking through longish grass.  The caches will take us off the trail a short distance, but not through any thick bush.  There are a few things you'll want to be prepared for:  sun or rain (depending on the weather), ticks (minimal), and mosquitoes(maximal).  There is wildlife in the area, which may include bears.  Good hiking footwear is recommended, but closed toe and closed heel shoes are a must.  Leave your sandals in your vehicle!  Be sure to bring plenty of water to drink and probably a snack too, as we might be out here a few hours. Pit toilets are available near the event coordinates.

Here is a trail map as provided by the Saskatoon Nordic Ski club:  http://www.saskatoonnordicski.ca/Portals/0/Eb%27s%20Trail%20Map.pdf  Please note that we will be finding caches along the blue trail called Eb's Trail. Caches will be published well before the event, and a bookmark list of the area's caches will be available for hikers when the hostess has finished hiding them!  There are other caches in the area along other trails and you are welcome to seek them out at your leisure, however they are not included in the hiking plan for this event (but I will include them in the bookmark list for your convenience).

Update June 13/14: If your dog is appropriate for an off-leash park, your dog would likely be appropriate for this event.
