St Mary's Church Road, Sundridge, Kent
St Mary’s Church, Sundridge is rated one of the top 2000 listed buildings. Parish history dates back to the earliest recorded times and show's Sundridge Church existed in 862, probably as a wooden structure, and later was recorded in the Domesday Book, when it was held by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
The double-square plan of the nave suggests that the church was rebuilt (probably replacing an earlier timber church) in the 13th century and consists of nave, north and south aisles, western tower and chancel. There is a chapel at the east end of the north aisle.
A fire in 1882 badly damaged the chancel, and repairs were carried out to designs by T E C Streatfield.
St Mary's church has a glorious interior but is regrettably usually locked, however if it is open to visitors then it is well worth going inside to have a look around.

Be aware that opposite the entrance to St. Mary's Church Road is the local primary school
and needless to say it gets very busy at the usual drop off and pick up times.
