Poarta Cisnadiei
A facut parte din a treia centuri defortificatii a orasului si a fost construita la mijlocul secolului al XIV-lea .A fost mai bine de 500 de ani una dintre cele mai importante cai de acces in Sibiu legand orasul de Cisnadie de unde si numele si mai apoi de Turnu Rosu,vama principatului si peste munti de Tara Romaneasca.
Poarta era inalta ,avea 4 niveluri era sub forma unui turn si avea doua intrari:una pentru carute si calesti iar alta pentru pietoni.Poarta era de de importanta strategica facand fata la numeroase asedii:prin ea a intrat Mihai Viteazu la 1599 si prin ea se realiza intregul comert al Sibiului cu zona Levantina.Poarta era pazita si administrata de Breasla Macelarilor ,cea mai puternica breasla a Sibiului.In secolul al XVI-lea sibienii adauga portii un bastion,o noua forma de fotificare din acea perioada:Bastionul Cisnadiei care,se gasea unde este astazi parcarea iar prin construirea celuilant bastion din apropiere Bastionul Soldisch se dubleaza acest rand de ziduri si se creaza un zwinger(spatiu intre doua ziduri) care a dus la nasterea parcului Astra.Ea a fost restaurata la mijlocul secolului al XV-lea dupa asediile otomane si reconstruita dup ace a fost distrusa de un fulger in 1594.
Deoarece dezvoltarea orasului era din ce in ce mai rapida bastionul s-a transformat intr-o cazarma militara,magistratul a decis in 1836 demolarea portii pentru a lega cetatea de noile cartiere ale orasului si de a deschide traficul pe principal strada din Sibiu ,strada Balcescu de astazi.
Cisnadiei Gate
A third part of the fortifications of the city and was built in the middle of the of the fourteenth century. Was more than 500 years one of the most important access roads linking the city of Sibiu Cisnadie hence the name and more then Turnu Rosu , customs of the principality and over mountains Romanian Country .
The gate was tall , had four levels was in the form of a tower and had two entrances : one for carts and carriages and one for pedestrians. It was restored in the mid fifteenth century by the Ottoman sieges and rebuilt after the needle was destroyed by lightning in 1594 .
Since the development of the city was increasingly faster bastion turned into a military barracks , the magistrate decided in 1836 to demolish portions connecting the city to the new neighborhoods of the city and open the main traffic street in Sibiu , street today Balcescu
