Geocache Description:

[LV]

Kovšu ezera spoguļvirsmas platība ir 22 ha, vidējais dziļums 2,6 m, maksimālais - 3,7 m.

Senajos laikos pakalna virsotnē blakus ezeram bija neliels veco latgalu ciematiņš. Pēc tam tur atradās viena no bagātāka zemes īpašnieka barona Korfa muižām. Tā bija senā baronu ligzda, no kuras sen jau nekas nepalika.

Kādreiz pussala kalpoja par ganību vietu iedzīvotāju mājlopiem. Purvaino pāreju šķērsoja tikai zvejnieki un gani. Masu peldēšanās notika pie kanāla, kurš izteka no ezera. 50.gadu sākumā pussalā sāka būvēt trīs metrus augstu torni. Uz šejieni bieži veda vietējā garnizona karavīrus peldēšanas normatīvu nodošanai.

Slēpnis atrodas tuvu krastam, zem ūdens, tā ir plastmasas pudele, piesieta pie akmeņa. Esiet uzmanīgi! Nāksies izpeldēties (ūdens slēpņa vietā ir apmēram līdz jostasvietai)!

[ENG]

Kovšu lake has a surface area of 22 ha, average depth 2.6m, maximum – 3.7m.

In ancient times, top of the hill beside the lake was a small village of old latgalians. Then there was a manor of the one of the richest land baron Korf. It was the ancient barons house, from which nothing did not remain.

Ever peninsula served as a place for grazing livestock. Swampy transition crossed only fishermen and shepherds. Mass swimming was held in the channel, which flows out of the lake. At the beginning of 1950s of the peninsula began to build a three-meter high tower. Here often led the local garrison troops for complying swimming regulations.

Cache is close to the shore under the water, it is a plastic bottle tied to a stone. Be careful!
