We stumbled upon this beach while on vacation. The beach is located between Cayo Coco (beach with resorts) and Cayo Guillermo (beach with no resorts). There is a dis-used resort here. It was built, but as far as we can see, never used.
You will need your own car. Taxi's will not take you there. I don't think a 4x4 is really needed, because the locals get here by Lada and Peugeot 105. Walking seems not advisable; its too far, too hot.
!!!WARNING!!! Tho highly unlikely: Cuba has snakes. Don't stick your hand in holes without looking!
Officially GPS devices are "frowned upon" in Cuba, so just to make sure everybody can reach its location, here's the textual information:
Take the road from Cayo Coco towards Cayo Guillermo.
Once past the "wide road", continue for another kilometer or so, till you see an old road on your right. (WP1)
Enter the road and continue till you see a "path" on your left that goes down the dike a bit. (WP2)
Continue onward till you come to a "fork" in the road. Head left. (WP3)
"Straight on" till you reach the old resort. (FINAL)
Don;t forget to go another 200m to find the beach, after you find the cache!
important note on maintenance: we have given a SPARE cache container to Paco at the guardhouse @ N 22° 30.905 W 078° 30.655. If the container goes missing, go there and ask for the spare container please?
Another note on maintenace: The guys at CaseCuba have agreed to maintain this cache when it goes cookoo. It may take a while for things to get fixed. They visit the (general) area about once a month.
