Localizada em área nobre da cidade, cercada por uma área extremamente verde e arborizada, foi formada junto a um conjunto de sítios e chácaras construídas por operários que trabalhavam no centro da cidade, tendo como habitantes a classe média alta da época.
Surgiu no início do século passado, onde ficava a velha estação de bondes, sendo chamada de Praça do Salvador até 1934.
É possível voltar ao tempo das antigas chácaras, ao trafegar pela Rua Recife, a avenida que a entrecorta, ao observar as imensas castanheiras e árvores frutíferas que ainda existem nas proximidades.
