Geocache Description:

This is one of a series of caches we have placed on a route from Tauranga to Auckland return (T2A-R). The traditional caches will contain information needed for two bonus caches, one at either end of the trip.

Piako bridge replica

From time to time we travel this route between Tauranga and Auckland, sometimes returning the same day. We have got into the habit of stopping to find a cache or two as a good excuse to take a break from driving, and decided to place a few ourselves.

The co-ords will lead you to a working model of the central span of the original Piako River bridge (1917-1960) which was recreated to celebrate the start of the new millennium. More info can be found on the signs near the bridge and on this website. Parking and picnic tables available, but take care with young children as there is water nearby.

You are looking for a 200ml sistema containing a waterproof log book and pencil. There is room for small swaps and TB's. Watch out for muggles including fishermen and their families who may appear suddenly from the riverbank! Please make sure you are not seen retrieving or replacing the cache. The cache also contains one of the clues you will need to locate the T2A-R: Tauranga Bonus cache.

FIRST TO FIND: funkymunkyzone, slieschke & mike-miss. Congratulations!
