This tower was the first built by Grand Master Wignacourt and also the first of such towers built on the island.
Erected in 1609, it offered protection to the Order's fleet when this was required to shelter in St Paul's Bay, as well as preventing Turkish invasion from this bay. Its main armament consisted of two 6 pounder iron guns mounted on the roof.
This is being taken care of by Din L-Art Helwa foundation. Today, this area has been renovated and offers great views on St Paul's Islands.
