Geocache Description:

This cache is part of the SideTracked series.

About SideTracked: These are Cache and Dashes for public transport users, which can be found at or near train stations, ex-train stations such as this or near miniature railways.

The cache is a short distance from the old station, but provides excellent views over Stockport and of the warehouse.

The first section of the Manchester and Birmingham Railway opened on 4th June 1840 and ran from Manchester to Heaton Norris Station. It was an immediate success. After the viaduct was opened in 1842 and Edgeley Station opened in 1843, Heaton Norris Station was demoted to a local station. It was finally closed in 1959. The London and North Western Company opened the Heaton Norris Goods Warehouse in 1840, which you can see.

A few Heaton Norris Station facts from wikipedia and here.
