Oškalnā, kā liecina 19. gs. fiksētie pieraksti, ir bijuši akmens krāvumi un svētā birzs. Oškalns ir kalnu masīvs jeb sala, kuru apņem purvi un meži, un uz to kā agrākos laikos, tā arī tagad ved tikai viens ceļš. Oškalna caurmērs 500-700 m, augstums virs apkārtējā purvāja ap 25 m, nedaudz lēzenākā A puse pirms kāda gada nocirsta kailcirtē un sāk aizaugt ar krūmiem. Tomēr apkārtējā meža dēļ Oškalns vizuāli neizceļas tik izteiksmīgi, kādu to var ieraudzīt kartēs. Kalna R, ZR un DR daļa, kas pret purvāju nokrīt daudz stāvāk, pāraugusi ar lapu un jauktu koku mežu. Daži no lielajiem lapu kokiem (ozoli, bērzi) ir vairākstumbru, respektīvi, vairāki lieli stumbri izaug no viena celma, kā tas novērots arī citās senajās norobežotajās, salas-veidīgajās svētvietās (Zebrenes Elku kalns, Bārbeles Pilveru pilskalns). Šī kalna daļa, arī nogāzes, sarakta daudzām lielām, bet senām bedrēm. Kalna Z malā zeme šķiet nedaudz tumšāka, tomēr par kultūrslāni to atzīt nevar. Šķiet, ka lielākā daļa no bedrēm ir seni smilts un/vai grants rakumi, tomēr iespējams, ka kalnā ir bijušas arī citas nozīmes bedres, lai gan tipisku zemnīcu vietu nav. Kalna lēzenākajā A daļā bedru nav. Nekādus akmens krāvumus, kādi norādīti iepriekšējās ziņās, pat atsevišķus akmeņus kalnā neredz, tomēr kalna augstākā daļa ir stipri norakta un, iespējams, akmeņi ir bijuši tieši tur. Oškalns savas nošķirtības dēļ esot izmantots arī kā patvēruma vieta karu laikos.
Latvijas Valsts Meži nesen izbūvēja jaunu piebraucamo ceļu un apgriešanās laukumu. Piekļūšana slēpnim varētu būt apgrūtināta, jo vietējais zemnieks servitūta ceļu norobežo ar elektrisko ganu un piegulošajās pļavās gana savas aitas.

The highest point in Birzgale parish, 76 m asl
Oškalns Hill, as the 19th century recordings suggest, featured stone layers and a furrow. Oškalns Hill represents a hill massive or island surrounded by swamps and forests and only one road has always lead to it and it is still so. The average diametre of the hill is around 500-700 m, the height above the surrounding peat soil pine forest is around 25 m, the slightly gentler E slope was cut clean about a year ago and is starting to overgrow with bushes. However, due to the surrounding forest the Oškalns Hill does not visually stand out as expressively as it can be seen in maps. The W, NW, SW part of the hill that has a sharper height difference with the peat soil pine forest is covered with a deciduous and mixed forest. Some of the big deciduous trees (oaks, birches) have several trunks growing from one stump as it can be seen in other ancient detached, island-type shrines (Zebrene Idols’ Hill , Bārbele Pilveri Hillfort). In this part of the hill and its slopes feature many big, however, old dug holes. The ground in the N side of the hill seems slightly darker, however, it cannot be considered a cultural layer. It seems that the major part of the holes are old sand and/or gravel excavations, however, it is possible that there have been holes with other designations in the hill, although it cannot be considered a site for a typical subterranean building. In the gently sloping E part of the hill there are no holes. There are no stone layers indicated in the previous records, nor individual stones, however, the top part of the hill has been considerably dug off and the stones might have been there. Due to its detachment Oškalns Hill has also been used as a refuge during wars.
The new road and turning circle has been built by Latvian State Forests, but access to cahce could be difficulty, because local farmer cross the road with electric fensing and shepherd sheeps.
