UK Mega Event 2014 - Cumbrae Day - Caches, Cakes and Cycles


Where?

On the Beach
Millport Bay
Isle of Cumbrae

When?

Tuesday 29th July.
11am to 3pm

It's the "Jewel in the Clyde" and is Scotland's most accessible island, reached in just 8.5 minutes from Largs on the Ayrshire coast.

You'll step back in time to a peaceful island to enjoy safe sandy beaches in Millport, the island's only town. Relax with a stroll along a prom; take in the great views; eat out in cafes, pubs and restaurants, or just unwind and let the world go by.

The island has the UK's smallest cathedral, the house with the smallest frontage, Scotland's National Water-sports Centre and over 1000 bikes for hire. There's a good variety of shops, indoor and outdoor amusements and much, much more - so, if you haven't previously discovered the charm of Cumbrae, make sure you do in 2014.

With over 30 caches, and counting, on this small island then its a must do event for Mega week.

The Event

Join us on the Beach at Millport Bay for a cake or three, and a chat of course. There will be opportunity to swap trackables and ask the Mega team about the future events (and for hints to the Cumbrae puzzle caches)

From the event you will be able to watch cachers kayak out for The Beach cache - GC3QXKB - on an island in Millport Bay, we are arranging the a number of Fatyaks for cachers to use.

Come and see us at the event and receive a specially designed Cumbrae souvenir tag as a souvenir


Cycle and Kayak Hire


Don't worry if you aren't bringing your cycles upto the the Mega as the Isle of Cumbrae has a couple of cycle hire shops. You can hire everything from a standard cycle upto a 7 seater conference bike! All sizes and styles available.

Single seater and double seater Fatyaks available, and will be provided with buoyancy aids. Cachers are responsible for their own safety and personal belongings when using the Fatyaks, the event cannot be held responsible for any loss or injury.

Getting There
The ferry departs from Largs, and only takes 10minutes to get to Cumbrae.

A frequent bus service runs from the ferry to Millport too.

Dont worry if you miss the ferry, there will be another one very soon and Largs has come wonderful ice cream shops to keep you entertained while you wait.
