You should always remember to keep your eyes out for wildlife as well. These two fellows did and made themselves a handy bundle of money.

The St. Albert Star - June 18, 1913

“While navigating the Athabasca from Mirror Landing, on Thursday last, two rivermen saw fox puppies playing on the bank. They at once moored their raft, trailed the little animals towards their den, and in a few minutes had them in captivity. They all proved to be silver foxes of a rare variety and are said to be worth $1000 each. When the steamer Northland Sun of the N.T. Co picked them up a short time later they brought the new found foxes to Athabasca Landing, and according to T.H. MacGregor, a passenger on the steamer at the time, the men were offered $1000 a piece for the foxes in the landing, but refused to sell in the hopes that they would realize more by taking the animals to Edmonton.”

I have to admit I am happier when they stay where they belong.
