For those who have never attended a Richmond Rally, you are in for a treat! Come meet your fellow cachers, and enjoy a day of fun, food, and caching! There will be games, displays, and contests galore - as well as the over 60 caches in the park. Enjoy our Annual Cache Container Contest - 50/50 Raffle - GeoRaffle in a Bag - Turkey Shoot - GeoBINGO - Cache Toss - The Stealthy Shuffle - Illegal Swag Toss - Frozen TShirt contest, Trivia Challenge, and a surprise game. There will be new caches set out just for the Rally, along with a list of these, and waypoint loading via GSAK. We are not reserving the cabins this year, but some folks will be tenting it! Come join icefrog, polliwog, and simsie in the campground - if we know you are camping, we can try to get the sites together.
We have reserved the Dining Hall for Sunday, June 22, 2014 to hold the tenth annual Richmond Rally geocaching event. It's another chance to put a face to all those names you see in the logs or on the forums and meet some new folks as well! We've got the shelter until sunset and plan to kick things off at around 11:00am. Bring some geo-cash for the raffles, and various fun games you may want to participate in! Who knows, you might just win a great prize PLUS bragging rights!
GOING GREEN....Once again, we will not have a booklet of caches in the park to hand out. Many attendees have found the older ones and do not need another booklet, many cache with SmartPhones and can get that info instantly, and CVGA has decided not to go to the expense of printing. That said, we WILL have a sheet listing newly released caches in the park and also nearby. SO - please download or print the caches you may want to do while at the rally, or find a buddy with a cool phone App...

FOOD INFORMATION: Take a look through the RSVP logs to see what we'll need, and then when you do your RSVP TELL US WHAT YOU ARE BRINGING to share for lunch! CVGA will provide hamburgers, bacon cheeseburgers, and hotdogs. Options are: Side dishes, sweet/dessert dishes, paper goods (plates/napkins/plasticware for 100 people), or the ever-popular "Just let me know what you need!"
PARKING INFORMATION The parking fee is $5 per car for day visitors on Saturday. Parking is included (for 2 vehicles) with camping fees. Parking fees are required anytime you park a car at Pocahontas State Park - whether you go into the main park area or not. There are a couple of drop boxes in the larger parking areas or you can pick up a parking pass at the main entrance. The State of Virginia has various annual and lifetime passes that frequent visitors may be interested in. Also, Friends of Pocahontas State Park volunteers can earn a yearly parking pass with volunteer hours.
CAMPING INFORMATION Camping is available, make reservations thru the park's website on your own - tell them you are geocaching, and they will try to group you with other cachers.
WAYPOINT LOADING We hope to have a few laptops to load waypoints centered around the event into your GPS receivers! This will save you a lot of time since there are going to be several new caches activated just in time for this event, and this way you won't have to input all the coordinates yourself. We'll have all the gear needed to load Garmin and Magellan GPSr's.If you use another brand of GPS receiver, you can bring your interface cable and a device driver disc and we'll do our best to help you. We'll be loading the closest 200 caches (10 mile radius around the Rally), give or take a few, so make sure there's room for these in your GPS or plan on deleting your waypoints before we load your unit.
