Geocache Description:

This cache is located in an area frequented by locals.  There is access only through the road allowance.  Private property is well fenced on the SE side of the bridge so you will know your limitations.  There is an embankment going down to the river so please watch your footing.

Children have been swimming and fishing along this river for a century or so.  It is close to the Moose River Bridge that was first constructed in 1908 and then replaced with a more modern bridge in 1928.  This bridge is the third edition.

There's only one problem.  This is not the Moose River, at least not on any modern map.  In actuality, this river comes from Fawcett Lake, previously known as Moose Lake until it was renamed after a Dominion Land Surveyor. Somewhere along the line, someone got the idea that the river leaving Fawcett Lake should also carry its name and renamed it Fawcett River.

Are we confused yet?  Well even some of the locals are.  Often times it is referred to as the Moose River on this end and the Fawcett River on the other end.  I have been asked several times where the Fawcett River comes out at and have received some very strange looks when I say at the Moose River Bridge.

If you post to Facebook around here watch your location.  It may say Smith, Mirror Landing or Spurfield.  Just don't get lost okay?
