Family Fun Day and Tartan Teddy Bears Picnic

Where?

Dean Castle Country Park
Kilmarnock

When?

Thursday 31st July
12noon until 3pm

Hello........I'm called "MacWhatsisname"
Would you like to come along to my picnic?

***************

Dean Castle Country Park offers a fabulous day out for all the family, with 200 acres of park and woodland nestled in the heart of Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire.

The event starts at 12noon with a picnic on the main lawn in front of the Dower House - don’t forget to bring along your picnic chairs or mats. We’re hoping that kids of all ages will bring their Teddy Bears dressed in tartan and we’re looking forward to judging the best dressed Tartan Teddy and of course, the Funniest Named Teddy.
Once you’ve had your picnic, some geochat and a game or two, take the time to enjoy the Park’s facilities or head off round the estate on the Rabbie Burns themed caching trail.

The Park opens at 10am and there are loads of attractions for everyone including woodland walking trails, adventure play area, lagoons for pond life spotting, urban farm with llamas, fallow deer, kune kune pigs and a walk-through aviary.
Don’t let the kids miss out on dressing up in suits of armour and mediaeval clothing or trying out some replica musical instruments in the Great Hall of the 14th century Keep.
Castle tours are also available on a first come first served basis.
Interactive trails allow you to explore the wildlife of the Park. There’s the MP3 Bird Song Trail, an Orienteering Trail, a Sharing Nature Trail that promotes the natural world to young children and a History Trail if you’d like to discover more about the Dean Castle Estate. You can pick up information on all these trails at the Visitor Centre and restaurant.
There is ample free car parking in and around the Country Park.
Please keep dogs on a lead in the picnic/farm area.
